Ex-KGB officer Putin said of the split after 30 years: “It was a joint decision. We hardly see each other.” And former Aeroflot stewardess Lyudmila added: “He is totally immersed in work. We lead our own lives.”
Putin has reportedly had three children with Alina, although she recently denied this.
Before the Putins’ trip to La Esmeralda last night, they had not been seen in public together since he was sworn in as president for a third term last May.
Lyudmila said the divorce was “civilised” but did not say if it was legal. The couple have two girls Maria, 28, and Ekaterina, 26.

RUSSIAN president Vladimir Putin went on national TV last night to announce his divorce.
