TRIBUTE TO A LOVELY UNCLE AND A FATHER. by Engr. chigide peter m.
On Saturday evening, 20th April, 2013. About eight o’clock when my phone rang, it was one of my class-mates during my secondary school, when I picked the call, heard “peter peter uncle luke is dead.”
I went into a state of shock, “my initial reaction was one of disbelief. I felt that it was a bad dream and that I would suddenly wake up and find out that it was not true. I trembled and felt terrible pains as if someone had hit me in my stomach”. I suffered from depression for the next 1 week. I still tremble when I recall what happened.
Like the piercing of a spear through a jar of water, news of your departure punctured my heart and split-piped its way through my two little eyes.
O how has the mighty fallen!
O death where is thy sting? O grave where is thy victory(I cor. 15:55) it is true that we shall die, which we know, but when we shall die is what we don’t know, it is also true that you have gone to answer the call when you were most needed by your creator.
How could you go away?
Could you not have waited?
Could you not have said goodbye before you depart from us.
I wish I could turn the hands of the clock, but no way, I can’t. but I am in no hurry to forget the lovely moments we shared together.
You were more than an uncle, brother, friend and a father.
I can still hear clearly the echo of your voice, you took me as your own son.
Maraizu, maraizu as you use to call.
O death, you have done more than good to us, you have caused more damage by snatching away an amiable, peace loving and extra caring and harmless ,uncle, father always good to be with. No one who comes across you that regrets why. You where a MONARCH.
Mere words cannot convey the over whelming feeling of the shock, disbelief, numbness and despair that has resulted from your death. May your gentle soul rest in the bosom of our lord till we meet again in heaven to part no more.
Adieu, great uncle and father! Goodbye great and noble man. LAA NA UDO..
By Engr. Chigide peter maraizu.
